Events in School
We are really fortunate to have some talented musicians at Stanford and on 21st April it was the turn of the guitarists to perform to us.
They are all at different stages of their learning and it was amazing to hear the range of ability, from those who have just begun to learn a few chords, to those who are playing exam standard pieces.
We heard Nursery Rhymes, film theme tunes and even a trio of girls who had written their own music and lyrics and performed it for us. Well done to all of you for a great performance.
If anyone else would like to learn to play the guitar, please contact Mrs Dharmasiri.
Our drumming teacher Tim led a brilliant drumming demonstration on Thursday 28th January.
The children who already have drumming lessons showed us their skills, drumming different beats for a variety of styles of music, and the whole school joined in, clapping along to the rhythms. We have some really talented drummers in school, well done to you all.
If your child is interested in learning to play the drums, please get in touch with Mrs Dharmasiri.
BBC 'Ten Pieces'
Each week, the children listen to a piece of music as they enter and leave Collective Worship. To encourage them to listen more carefully and learn a little bit about different styles of music from all over the world, some of the KS2 children will take over creating the power-points and present them in Singing Practice each week.
Take a look at what we have been listening to (click the pictures to see the presentation).
